New York Fashion Week Fall 2012: Marc by Marc Jacobs
As Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2012 comes to a close today, designers and “fashionistas” have spent all week strutting their stuff for the iconic moment in the fashion world and New York alike.
One of my favorite designers, Marc Jacobs served up some seriously stunning “stylings” this year in his Marc By Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection showcasing a mixture of grunge and military-inspired looks.
Stomping the runway during his show were looks that brought together a British-inspired look from the military haute couture looks that have been reigning the Brit runway over the past couple of years, but what really set this Fall’s collection apart was the pairing with the returning grunge look of the 90’s.
Schoolgirl silhouettes came down the catwalk with bursting floral and plaid prints that screamed chic styling that Marc Jacobs is truly known for.
Velvet coats, dresses, and sunburst-pleated skirts were all the rage for Jacobs’ show showing a soft, yet structured sense of romance and classic looks. Though, what really caught my eye with his Fall 2012 collection was the accessory styling, which included grunge combat boots, band caps, and studded leather and furry bags galore.
Kudos to Marc Jacobs and his awesome fashion show at Fashion Week NYC.

Marc Jacobs Becomes the New face Of Christian Dior
Could Marc Jacobs really be the new face for Christian Dior? A couple of weeks ago, I posted on the (un)fortunate firing of John Galliano from the House of Dior due to his racial commentary.
Now, with fashion kicking into high gear, the question that is racing through everyone’s minds is who will take over Galliano’s position.
The Gossips are doing what they do best in speculating who will don the the prestigious Dior title. Up in the air for the fashion frenzy along with Jacobs are Alexander Wang, Christian Lacroix, and Keren Craig of Marchesa. My personal vote goes out to Jacobs.
Not only do I have a serious obsession with him, but his men’s line brings men’s fashion to a whole new level. Jacobs is known taking men’s apparel and basics and adding a modern twist with edge and a hint of punk. Every time I see one of his pieces, I can’t help but squeal like a little school girl.
Jacobs would be a great choice for Christian Dior having led the Louis Vuitton label situated as their creative director. Although, Alexander Wang would be an interesting choice for a close second.
Only time will tell where Christian Dior’s direction will go and having a fresh face up on their runway is set to show off some serious fashion statements.
