Antique Persian Tabriz Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: Early 20th Century – Here is a wonderful and profoundly beautiful antique rug – an Antique Persian Tabriz rug that was originally hand woven and hand dyed by the master rug makers from the city of Tabriz in Persia (which is the modern day country of Iran) some time during the early years of the twentieth century. A charming and fascinating example, this particular antique Persian rug possesses many of the qualities and the characteristics that typify the best pieces. Persian Tabriz samplers were woven to demonstrate designs for large carpets. This sampler is an example of a border design containing classic ‘turtle’ palmettes with gracious outer borders in contrasting ivory.
