Magnificent Large Size and Highly Decorative Antique Turkish Oushak Rug, Origin: Turkey, Late 19th Century – This lovely antique Turkish Oushak rug is unusually detailed in its treatment of the Classical palmette design. The various forms are richly articulated with complex linear contours and multi-colored interior embellishment. The linking vines are so fine that they hardly stand out, giving pride of place to the palmette elements. The border has the same design as the field, but against a soft salmon rather than mauve or blue ground. Despite the many exceptional features of this carpet, what truly stands out is the varied coloration in soft pastel tones.
