Antique Kerman rug from central Persia, circa 1900 – The classic Persian design and coloration of this opulent antique Kerman runner recall the beauty of embroidered Kashmir shawls. The scalloped ogival medallions are enclosed by corner pieces and intervening vines almost to the exclusion of the deep blue ground. The blue ground of the border is similarly reduced virtually to outlines, allowing the soft tan and champagne tones to dominate the carpet.
