Antique Tabriz Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Touches of angularity enliven the floral drawing of this elegant, decorative Tabriz. A star-like medallion floats over a delicate Herati-patterned field. A dark, stepped line surrounds the medallion creating a space where Herati gives way to clusters of pomegranates, leaves, and flowers. The medallion design is repeated in each of the corner spandrels. An extremely fine and well-drawn piece.
