Vintage Persian Kilim 44023

Kilim, Persia, Early 20th Century – Constructed using modular elements from a classical repertoire of flat-weave shapes, this antique Persian kilim creates a consistent pattern of repeating floral figures that incorporate a tremendous variety of colors, which are set against the saturated mulberry-colored field. Rows of colorful florals featuring fuchsia accents, neutrals and contrasting outlines blaze a diagonal path across the field while using latch hook foliage to create a symbolic divider. Crisp white running-water motifs with stepped edges separate the beautifully colored field from the robust walnut-colored borders, which feature polychrome polygons framed by celadon stripes reminiscent of the stylized Herati leaflets that accompany many beloved patterns.
